The Baglamukhi Dhyanam is a Sanskrit meditation verse dedicated to Goddess Baglamukhi — one of the ten Mahavidyas, revered as the divine power of stambhana (paralysis/stilling). She is invoked to silence enemies, halt harmful speech, and still confusion and conflict, holding the tongue of illusion itself in her grasp. Golden and radiant, seated in splendor, she embodies the paradox of gentle beauty wielding decisive, restraining force. This dhyan (visualization) verse helps the devotee picture her resplendent form and meditate on her as the power that stops harm before it can act.

Her body is adorned with yellow garments, ornaments, and garlands.

Verse 2
जिह्वाग्रमादाय करेण देवीं वामेन शत्रून् परिपीडयन्तीम्
With her left hand, the Goddess seizes the tip of the enemy’s tongue, afflicting and subduing them.
गदाभिघातेन च दक्षिणेन पीताम्बराढ्यां द्विभुजां नमामि
And with her right hand she strikes with a mace — I bow to her, two-armed, richly adorned in yellow.
🔥 Deeper Spiritual Meaning
Every image in this dhyanam points to the power of stillness as a form of protection:
Ocean of nectar & jeweled pavilion → Abundance and auspiciousness surrounding her stilling power
Golden/yellow hue → Radiant, solar energy that immobilizes darkness and confusion
Seizing the enemy’s tongue → Halting harmful speech, lies, and the roots of conflict at their source
Mace (mudgara/gada) → Decisive force used only when necessary, to restrain rather than destroy
Lion throne → Sovereignty and fearless authority
Two-armed, richly adorned form → Focused, elegant power — not chaos, but precise control
Stambhana (paralysis) as her nature → The wisdom of stopping harm before it unfolds, rather than reacting after the fact
Baglamukhi teaches that true strength often lies not in destruction, but in restraint — the ability to still a lie, silence cruelty, or halt chaos with precise, deliberate power.
✨ Final Thought
Where Dhumavati liberates through stark, unsettling emptiness, Baglamukhi liberates through decisive, golden stillness.
Meditate on her not to destroy your enemies, but to still the noise — outer and inner — that clouds the truth.
She does not shout. She stops.
