Ganga Avataran is one of Hindu mythology’s most cherished legends — the
story of how the celestial river Ganga descended from heaven to earth.
King Bhagiratha, seeking liberation for his 60,000 ancestors, performed
intense penance to bring her down.

But Ganga’s descent carried a force the earth could not withstand alone.
Lord Shiva intervened, catching her in his matted locks (jata) and
releasing her gently as seven gentle streams — taming a flood into a
river that could nurture, not destroy.

Where Ganga first touched the earth is known today as Gangotri. Her
waters are believed to carry the power of liberation to this day. This
film brings the Ganga Avataran to life — the devotion, the divine
